Limera1n iPhone OS 3.1.3, 4.0 / iPad Untethered Jailbreak

Hagard Unlocker reader [Tom_Wallace] tipped us about limera1n.com, a site with no information and featuring an image of green drop (limera1n)  very similar to black drop (blackra1n). Our tipster claimed that GeoHot will release limera1n on April 30th. We don’t have any confirmation from GeoHot but a little research revealed that purplera1n.com domain is registered with name of GeoHot so there is no doubt about the authenticity of the site. Checking with Who is Domain tools, we note that it is headed right for George, with all the information , address and email that coincide perfectly with the data with which it was made out with blackra1n.com.

Limera1n, may be an untethered jailbreak for iPhone 3GS OS 3.1.3 (possible support of OS 4), iPhone 3G and iPad OS 3.2 We’ll post more information as soon as we find another scoop so stay tuned with us for your daily dose of iDevice news, you can follow us on www.gsmsandwich.com.ph

Downgrade iPhone 3G OS 4.0 Baseband 5.13.01 With Fuzzyband

Fuzzyband (good old downgrader) has been updated to include downgrading support from the iPhone OS 4.0b1 baseband 05.13.01 for iPhone 3G with bootloader 5.8 Fuzzyband Downgrader detects your bootloader and baseband and downgrade it with a simple click if your bootloader is vulnerable to Fuzzyband . Fuzzyband Downgrader available in Cydia, just refresh your sources and search for Fuzzyband and install the application.

Please Note :
  • Downgrading only works on iPhone 3G with 05.08 (5.8) Bootloader from the factory. This is a very limited number of phones that were released in the first few weeks of the 3G production cycle.
  • If you do not know your bootloader then you can run Fuzzyband and it will report the version number for you.
  • iPhone 3GS and large numbers of iPhone 3G aren’t supported by the Fuzzyband, so in case your baseband is updated then wait for Dev team/GeoHot to release any workaround. This may take weeks or months.

Tunderstorm iPhone baseband 05.12.01 unlock, another fake?

We just heard about Thunderst0rm, a new method of iPhone  3G/3GS jailbreak and unlock developed by group of swiss hackers / students. According to official site of Thunderstr0m they achieved jailbreak and unlock of iPhone 3G and 3GS with firmware 3.1.3 and baseband 05.12.01. Developers of thunderstr0m are planning to release in the wild on April 23, after several tests.

Don’t get your hopes so high, in recent months lots of new teams popped up and claim to have a working unlock/jailbreak but none of them released a working model. So we advise you to stick with us and wait for iPhone Dev team and GeoHot to release their tools.

Stay tuned with us for your daily dose of iPhone news, you can follow us on www.gsmsandwich.com.ph

Downgrade iPhone 3G OS 4.0 to 3.1.3 or lower

Apple released iPhone firmware 4.0 Beta 1 for iPhone developers to develop and test their applications with new API extensions released with new iPhone SDK. Upgrading to 4.0 with Ultrasn0w/Blacksn0w installed will cause people to lose their unlock and jailbreak for iPhone 3G. OS 4 beta 1 contains a baseband update 05.13.03 for iPhone 3G and 3GS. So if you accidentally updated your iPhone 3G to OS 4 here is the handy guide for downgrading.
Remember this will not downgrade your baseband only your firmware will be downgraded. It’s possible to downgrade OS however we strongly suggest you to carry on with OS 3.1.3 until Dev team update Pwnage Tool or redsn0w Tool.

Step by Step Guide to Downgrade iPhone 3G
Step 1: Make sure you have latest iTunes installed, Now connect your iPhone to your computer.
Step 2: Put your iPhone 3G in DFU mode with following instructions.
  • Connect your iPhone to your computer.
  • Turn iPhone off.
  • Hold power and home together for 10 seconds (exactly).
  • Release power but keep holding home until the computers beeps (observed on a PC) as a USB device is recognized.
  • A few seconds later iTunes should detect your iPhone.
  • If the Restore Logo is present on the screen, you are in Recovery Mode, not DFU.
Step 3: Once your iPhone is in DFU mode following message will be appeared in iTunes. Click on “OK” , Now hold Option key while clicking Restore in iTunes and browse the OS 3.1.2 or below firmware for your iPhone 2G, 3G. Now the restore process will take 10 – 15 minutes.

Step 4: If you encountered an error message like 1011, 1013, 1015, just ignore them(Actually the firmware3.0 is already successfully installed). Simply launch RedSn0w and do the Jailbreaking Unlocking process again.
