Ultrasn0w 1.3 Will Unlock iPhone 4 Baseband 03.10.01, 02.10.04 on iOS 4.2.1 – Confirmed

All those users who rely on iPhone 4 unlock are demanding only one thing right now and that is iPhone 4 unlock on latest baseband 03.10.01 and 02.10.04.

Two types of users can be included in this list … those who have purchased iPhone 4 with preinstalled iOS 4.2.1 and those who have accidentally upgraded their devices to iOS 4.2.1 without preserving the baseband.

Here is a good news for all those who are having a locked iPhone 4 and can’t use the SIM card other than the one from officially supported carrier.
Sherif Hashim, a well know hacker who works on iPhone baseband hacking to find new exploits, has confirmed over twitter while replying to a user that the exploit which he has found is working on both baseband 02.10.04 and 03.10.01 on iPhone 4.

Apple to Preview iOS 5 for iPhone 4 on iPad 2 Media Event

Closed sources to Engaget claims that Apple is going to show off a preview version of iOS 5 at the long overdue iPad 2 media event which scheduled to be held by March 2nd at Yerba Buena Center for the Arts in San Francisco.

It’s also almost guaranteed that we’ll see the next version of iOS (number 5 in all likelihood, along with its SDK for devs), and an expansion of Apple’s cloud services (that part is a little… foggy right now). Of course, that will perfectly set up Apple’s announcement of the iPhone 5 in June, which is when iPad owners can likely expect to be using the new software. Regardless, we’ll have the goods come next week, so stay tuned!
By the way it's expected to release iOS 5 with the iPhone 5 by the next summer, till now there's no any official word about release date or even its features.

iOS 4.3 GM general release next week?

As noted by BGR report who was the first one who tipped about the last iOS 4.3 beta release data and build, he heard from a source that the Gold Master release for iOS 4.3 (8F190) is done and will come out for the developers any time with the full release version

iOS_43_walkthrough-400x226.jpg
possible for next week’s iPad 2 event. We will know the first part of GM hits developer.apple.com, and the second part when Apple execs take the stage on Wednesday.

Here's the iPad 2 reviewed in a video.. wait, it's too big!

Yeah, we've finally got iPad 2 totally reviewed in a video but guys, it's too big than we expect, can it be real? well, to be honest, it's one of the best things you might have ever seen from Apple. It's absolutely a fake iPad but pretty funny, watch it yourself.

Geohot Needs Your Help to Continue the War Against Sony

Geohot is now opening a new blog specially to continue his war against Sony regarding PS3 (PlayStation) Jailbreak , Geohot is asking his fans to support him via donations.

undefined
tl;dr
Sony is lame, and is suing me for hacking MY OWN PS3. Help me own them in court

Sony are bullies
Sony doesn't care if what you did was legal, if they don't like it, they sue. Sony tried to sue a guy for getting his AIBO to do non Sony approved tricks, making it apparent that they don't really care about piracy, they care about control. In (Sony v Bleem), Bleem was the winner on all counts, but the high cost of a legal defense shut them down. Fortunately, that suit helped set precedent on the legality of emulators. I would hate to lose this case due to resource starvation, and with the support of the masses, I won't. Lets turn the bully back on itself. This case has the ability to set a huge precedent for consoles and all closed systems to come. The other two should be begging Sony to back off.

Sony sued the wrong guy
I am an advocate against mass piracy, do not distribute anyone's copyrighted work but my own, do not take crap lying down, and am even pro DRM in a sense. For example, I believe Apple has every right to lock down their iPhone in the factory as much as they want, but once it's paid for and mine, I have the right to unlock it, smash it, jailbreak it, look at it, and hack on it. Fortunately, the courts agree with me on this point.
My PS3 goal has been to provide users a legitimate path to homebrew, which by the standards of all previous cases (or, in reverse), is 100% legal. Sony does not even try to allege piracy or copyright infringement in this case, they allege I did things like play "super mario world, an unauthorized game" on MY PS3. And access MY PS3 in an unauthorized way. Who are they to authorize what I do with my taxed and paid for property?
fail0verflow's goal was even nobler than mine. They wanted to give you back a feature Sony illegally stole, Linux on your PS3. It's shameful on Sony's part that they are being sued at all. If you have a problem with pirates, sue them, don't sue people who point out your shortcomings.

Why should I care about your personal legal troubles?
You shouldn't. For example, if I was taken to court for sex crimes in Sweden, I would never ask for donations. But this case isn't about me. Clearly I am not being sued because of something I have that Sony wants, I am being sued in order to send a message that Sony is not to be messed with. But if I(and all codefendants likewise) actually win this, we have the power to send a much stronger message back. That consumers have rights, and we aren't afraid to stand up for them.

Why should I trust you? I just saw you trying to rap battle Sony
My attempts at humor aside, I do take this whole matter very seriously. Again, it's not about me, I was on the verge of quitting this stuff last June, and I would hate to be the one who sets a reputation for hackers that all a company has to do is sue us and we back down. In fact, I want the opposite reputation set, that the more a company tries to abuse the legal system, the harder we rally back. I will be the first person in line on the launch date of the Xperia Play, and itching to get my hands on the Next GEOHOT Project.

Why did you wait until now to set this up?
I didn't want to be trigger happy, and thought the suit might go away quickly. Also, I had to consult with my lawyers about how to do this. It's been over a month, and it looks like this is going to be a drawn out case. I am in this for the long haul. I am very serious ethically when I take donations, for all iPhone work I only accepted after the fact, here after the fact is too late. Now I am pot committed so to say.

How much should I donate?
Put it this way, Sony has 5 lawyers, I have 2. I'd like to level the playing field, and really get some hard hitters in there. I have already racked up over 10k in legal bills; donate whatever you feel like. Leftover donations at the end of all this will be donated to the EFF.

What if I want to donate more than I feel comfortable sending through PayPal?
I'm excited! Email me, we'll figure it out.

Why doesn't the EFF fund this?
Ask them. They have offered to provide some legal help though, which is much appreciated.

Donate to help you, you're the reason I can't play Modern Warfare now…
No, I'm not. Kakaroto explains this really well here. I have never played PS3 online ever. Frankly I'm amazed by the apparent ease with which these cheats were created, security 101, why is the security in the client anyway? I had no idea this would happen, and am in full support of the cheaters being permabanned from PSN.

I'm a poor college student, what can I do to help?
I feel you, don't worry. Spread the word. Let people know how you feel about what Sony is doing. Let Sony know how you feel about what Sony is doing.

What if SCEA tries to settle?
Lets just say, I want the settlement terms to include OtherOS on all PS3s and an apology on the PlayStation blog for ever removing it. It'd be good PR for Sony too, lord knows they could use it. I'm also willing to accept a trade, a legit path to homebrew for knowledge of how to stop new firmwares from being decrypted.

Why isn't SCEA trying to settle?
RAGE RAGE RAGE RAGE RAGE...THEY POINTED OUT OUR SECURITY FLAWS...IM SO MADDDDDDDD...WAHHHHHH
You can visit geohot new blog from here. I think this is the appropriate time to digging for an exploit (if he isn't already have it) for iPhone 4 unlock. This will a be a great solution for Geohot to continue his war. What do you think?

3 honest facts to god about Geohot

iPhone and PS3 hacker George Hotz published three facts on his site for people who don't know him and new to the site. He says that he's never pirated a PS3 game and he don't have PSN account. Besides he's never hacked anything that he didn't own.

To people new to this site, three honest to god facts about me:
* I have never pirated a PS3 game in my life, nor helped or encouraged people to do so
* I have never played PlayStation online, never mind cheated, nor helped or encouraged people to do so
* I have never hacked anything that I did not own or without consent of the owner
The purpose of the suit is to harass and discourage rather than win. The law can be used very easily to harass, and enough harassment on somebody who is simply on the thin edge anyway, well knowing that he is not authorized, will generally be sufficient to cause professional decease. If possible, of course, ruin him utterly.
-- L. Ron Hubbard (Scientology cult founder), 1955
Couple of days back, Geohot rapped Light it up Contest against Sony. Well, we know a lot about you Hotz!

Testing iPhone 5!!

Other prototypes are similar to the iPhone 4 with a bit of differences, as an upgraded battery and an 8MP camera. The report likens those prototypes to the transition from iPhone 3G to iPhone 3Gs with the same basic design augmented primarily by improvements in the device's internals.

As for the sliding keyboard, it doesn't seem consistent with Apple's devotion to multi-touch functionality with virtual keyboards. We may just keep the suggestions aside but Apple.pro has a good track record providing leaked information from Apple's products.

This site recently posted an Apple-branded touchscreen which appeared few months later in the company's latest iPod nano.

The site also notes that these are prototypes, suggesting that the sliding keyboard model could just be a design put together by Apple for the purposes of testing and may never be intended for public release.

According to MacRumors, the free access to the new iPad news publication The Daily has been extended for another two-weeks trial period, precisely this period will be ended by February 28th.

What that mean? The Daily is waiting for iOS 4.3 public release which will bring support for the in-app recurring subscription to be used by The Daily. The ending of the trial period means the release of iOS 4.3 for public. Till now I can't confirm this date hundred percent as Apple didn't confirm this officially. We have to wait and see! Apple Working on Cheaper, Smaller iPhone and MobileMe Overhaul

Old iPhone Nano concept design

The Wall Street Journal seems to confirm an earlier Bloomberg report that Apple is working on a smaller, cheaper version of the iPhone due this summer:
One of the people, who saw a prototype of a new iPhone several months ago, said the new device is intended to be sold alongside the current line of iPhones and would be about half the size of the iPhone 4. The phone, one of its codenames is N97, would be available to mobile carriers at about half the price of Apple's main line of iPhones, the person said.
The previous Bloomberg report claimed the price of the smaller iPhone would be $200 without contract, opening the door to the phone possibly being discounted to free with contract. The iPhone Nano rumor has been circulating for years with various case designs and enclosures suggesting at least prototype work had been done on it over the years.

Next, The Wall Street Journal claims that Apple is also working to revamp its MobileMe service. Apple is reportedly considering making MobileMe a free service. The new free service could serve as a digital "locker" for photos and video, or become the focal point for online music.

Both the new smaller iPhone and revamped MobileMe service are expected this summer.

iOS 5 To Introduce Revamped Notification System for iPhone, iPad, iPod touch – Report

Sources close to CultofMac has informed them that Apple is buying a small company to revamp the much criticized notification system of iOS.

Apple is working on a new notification system for iOS and will be buying a small company to build its technology into the operating system, according to one of our sources.
It is no secret that Android’s, WP7’s and webOS’ notification system offers far better experience than iOS’ current notification system, which is intrusive at best.
Apple’s pop-up notification system for new text messages, voicemails and the like has often been criticized as one of the weakest parts of the iOS. Notifications are intrusive, modal and often cryptic. It’s a mess.
Hopefully, we will see a complete revamp of notification system when Apple rolls out iOS 5 with iPhone 5 this summer.

Geohot will release untethered jailbreak on February 10?

MuscleNerd of the iPhone Dev Team claims in a tweet that Geohot will release untethered jailbreak  along with Verizon iPhone 4's launch on February 10th.

@pod2g (for instance I think geohot will release his iboot-level untether for certain devices after 2/10/11, if there's a void)
In a reply to the iPhone hacker pod2g after the discovery of new untethered vulnerability, MuscleNerd thinks that Geohot will release his iboot-level untethered jailbreak for iOS 4.2.6, iOS 4.3.
